Amritsar, city, northern Punjab state, northwestern India. It lies about 15 miles (25 km) east of the border with Pakistan. Amritsar is the largest and most important city in Punjab and is a major commercial, cultural, and transportation centre. It is also the centre of Sikhism and the site of the Sikhs’ principal place of worship—the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple.
Religion or faith have no bar here. You could even be non-religious. Yet, the sanctity of Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple will touch your heart. It is located in the city of Amritsar in one of the northern states of India, Punjab.
Food from Punjab is the most well known cuisine across the world. And Amritsar is brimming with “dhabas“. These are small, traditional eateries run by the same family for generations. We went to one of the oldest such dhabas, named Kesar da Dhaba.

Day 1- Arrival
Arrive Amritsar Railway Station/Airport. On arrival reception at Railway Station and transfer to the select hotel.Evening visit India-Pakistan Attari Border to watch Flag Retreat Ceremony- Attari Wagah, an army Joint Check Post on India-Pakistan border 30 Kms from Amritsar where the daily highlight is the evening “Beating the Retreat” ceremony. Soldiers from both countries march in perfect drill, going through the steps of bringing down their respective national flags. Return to hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 2- Exploring Amritsar
After Breakfast , Start your city tour with the blessings of Golden Temple-the most important sikh shrine also known as Harmandir Sahib and Darbar Sahib. Then visit Jallianwala Bagh- the place that reminds every Indian of the brutal and hearless massacre by british general Dyer.
Visit Durgiana Temple :- The temple The complex houses Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir with a huge pond on its periphery
Mata Lal Ji Devi Temple : The replica Temple of Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra , Jammu and Kashmir.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and Panorama in Ram Bagh
The landscaped garden with Summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the center. The Maharaja later named it Ram Bagh. It has a museum with relics of Mughal era and hand drawn sketches and portraits of the ruling Sikhs.
Rest of the day at your leisure for shopping etc. Return To Hotel, Overnight at Amritsar Hotel.
Day 3- Departing from Amritsar
After Breakfast , rest of the day at your Leisure till transfer to Railway station to board train or airport for onward journey.
